Even though it’s less popular, there is also the private side of Twitter. Using Direct Messages, you can have private conversations with Twitter users about whatever you want.
Direct Messages are used to start a conversation with anyone that follows you on Twitter. You also can create a group of followers to send a message to. Everyone can reply and add new people to the group.
Some accounts, particularly business accounts, have enabled a setting to receive Direct Messages from anyone. Not just your followers. This makes it easier for more people to communicate with you.
So how do I send a direct message on Twitter?
Just do the following:
- Go to your Messages.
- Tap the New message icon to create a new message.
- Fill the address box with the name or username (started from @) of the person you want to send a message to
- Enter your message.
- You can use the designated icons to add a photo, video, GIF, or emoji to your message.
- Tap Send.
You’re direct message will then be sent. The person you sent the message to will receive a notification that they have a new message.
