Sotrender review

Sotrender vs. Sprout Social – main differences

At first sight, Sotrender and Sprout Social may look similar. However, after taking a closer look at both, you’ll notice some significant differences.

While Sprout Social offers various features, answering diverse needs, Sotrender covers a more specific niche.

Sprout Social is a social media management platform enabling users to plan social media content, engage with their audience, and analyze their strategy performance. Meanwhile, Sotrender is primarily a social media analytics tool that helps marketers better understand their social media efforts, save time by automating reporting, and learn more about competitors and the whole market.

Let’s dive deeper into the specifics of both Sotrender and Sprout Social.

Benchmarking

When it comes to tracking competitors’ social media activities and performance, both Sotrender and Sprout Social are capable of tracking this kind of data.

They’ll help you monitor what your competitors post on their social media channels, e.g., on Facebook or Instagram, and analyze engagement on these profiles as well as other statistics.

However, there is one important difference between these two tools regarding the time range of historical data available for analysis.

In Sprout Social for the profiles you don’t own, you can access data only for the last 30 days. But in Sotrender, you can analyze competitor performance even for the last 3 years depending on the subscription plan you’re on.

Analyzing competitor performance for such a short time period won’t be sufficient in the majority of cases. To get a bigger picture on their strategies, you need a peek at their data for at least a quarter, if not more. Brands intensify their marketing activities without notice, so you always need to make sure you’re up to date with what is going on in the market you operate in.

When it comes to benchmarking, Sotrender is a great and much more affordable Sprout Social alternative.

Reporting

Just like competition tracking, both Sotrender and Sprout Social offer the reporting feature. It’s not surprising, as preparing reports is one of many responsibilities every social media manager has.

However, the logic and process of generating a report in these two tools is different.

In Sprout Social, you can download your data when analyzing each profile performance. Once you choose a profile and a time period you want to analyze, at the top of the page you’ll see an option to automatically download all the data you see on the screen.

On the other hand, in Sotrender the main flow of generating a report is by using a separate tab called Reporting. From there, you can either generate a one-time report or schedule recurring reports. It’s easier in that you have the reporting process and all your reports under control in one place and you can easily manage them from there. When setting a new report, you also have more control over what sections and data is included and whether it’ll be a report for just one profile or a comparison report.

Like in Sotrender, automated reports are available in Sprout Social, too.

When it comes to reporting competitor performance, you can seamlessly generate reports both in Sotrender and Sprout Social. However, the latter doesn’t provide comparative reports for all channels. For example, LinkedIn and TikTok comparative reports are not available in Sprout Social, while they can be prepared for you in Sotrender on demand.

Here at Sotrender, we know how different and non-standard marketers’ needs can be. That’s why we are flexible and open to any inquiries and data requests. Our custom solutions are an answer to some repeating inquiries that were popping up in our email inbox, but that’s not all we can do. For us, the sky’s the limit when it comes to data analytics.

Feel free to contact us directly and share your needs with us.

Ad data & ad optimization

Even though marketers aren’t necessarily happy about it, social media ads are now essential for nearly any brand’s growth.

At Sotrender, we understand their importance for overall social media success, so in our app you’ll find many more features and much more data related to analyzing and optimizing paid social media campaigns.

But let’s first take a look at similarities between Sprout Social and Sotrender.

Both tools let you analyze and report your ad performance and see how your Facebook or Instagram ads perform in the long run.

However, as we mentioned before, Sotrender, specifically the Sotrender Ads module, offers much more than that.

It’ll also help you:

  • See how your ad results stack up against competitor and industry results
  • Get a peek at competitors’ paid activities by ordering on demand comparison reports
  • Optimize your current and future campaigns with the latest AI-driven extension to Sotrender Ads

What exactly is our Ads Optimization?

It’s an AI-driven module that is unique to Sotrender, as it was created by our in-house team of experienced architects and data scientists.

It’s a solution that helps marketers:

  1. Increase the efficiency of their ads and achieve better results (e.g., more clicks or reach) within the same ad budget
  2. Reach the desired target audience more effectively
  3. Save time on setting and optimizing ads by providing them with ready-to-use ad settings recommendations
  4. Gain a competitive advantage by using the latest market solutions

Ads Optimization is based on our proprietary AI models, so you won’t be able to find such a solution in any other social media tool, including Sprout Social.

User experience & user interface

At first glance, after creating an account in Sotrender and Sprout Social, Sotrender seems to be a bit more intuitive than Sprout Social.

Our left-side menu is clearly divided into sections such as: Analytics, Comparison, or Reporting. You’ll immediately know which tab to choose to perform a given task.

You can then dive deeper into a specific section or data branch to learn more about a particular metric, such as reach or engagement.

In contrast, Sprout Social seems to be more complicated to navigate, especially for new users.

The menu is a bit hard to understand, and some features or data may not be easy to find at the beginning.

However, it’s usually a matter of habit, and users who have been using the application for longer probably don’t have any issues navigating it.

In our opinion, though, other software, like Agorapulse, seems to be better thought-out regarding their UX and UI.

Free trial

Both Sprout Social and Sotrender offer a free trial, which is usually a market standard now.

However, you can test these tools for a different period of time. As Sprout Social offers more features (scheduling, social inbox, analytics), its trial period lasts 30 days, while you can test Sotrender for 7 days. It’s usually a sufficient period of time to discover all of Sotrender’s features. However, if you happen to be swamped with other responsibilities during this time, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to extend your trial period.

If you need more assistance, or you just prefer someone to show you all the Sotrender gems to quicken the whole process, you can always book a demo with one of our representatives. They’ll show you how Sotrender looks, what its features are, and how it can help you achieve your business goals.

Just pick a time that’s right for you and let us show you around!

Pricing

Just like the pricing at Agorapulse, in Sprout Social, the prices are quoted per user.

The cheapest package at Sprout Social, the Standard plan, costs $249 per user monthly.

At the same time, the cheapest package at Sotrender, the Essential plan, costs $80 per month and entitles 3 users to use it. The Plus plan costs $200 per month and offers an unlimited number of seats. No matter if your social media team consists of 3, 5, or 10 people, you’ll only pay $200. That’s massive savings on just one tool.

Both Sotrender and Sprout Social offer custom plans (in Sprout Social, it’s called the Enterprise plan) that are targeted at the most demanding customers looking for personalized solutions.

Neither of these two software options offer a free plan.

Customer service

Here at Sotrender, there is nothing we care about more than our clients’ satisfaction.

We’re always ready to help and answer the technical or non-technical questions our current and future customers have. Simply contact us by email, phone, in-app chat, or our social media channels and let us know what’s on your mind.

You can also always book a demo with one of our representatives, during which you’ll learn more about Sotrender, its features, and our custom solutions.

Stop looking for a Sprout Social alternative

We hope that by now you know how important it is to have a reliable social media tool that will support your growth.

As you know best what features and possibilities are most important to you, it’s your individual decision on whether Sotrender, Sprout Social, or another software will be a good fit for you.

If you’re specifically looking for a Sprout Social alternative, take into consideration whether it offers decent competitor tracking, automated reporting, extensive ad analysis, and also its overall value to money ratio.

Sotrender is definitely an option worth considering, especially for teams that value having reliable and constantly up-to-date data at their fingertips, as well as advanced analytics and optimization features.
