There are different ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Some colour their rivers, some traditionally meet with their friends and drink occasional green beer.. Sotrender Research Team has decided to take a look how strong beer brands are on Facebook in different countries. First of all, we have analyzed the structure of fans of the biggest beer page in the world – Heineken. Based on the results we have compared local Facebook beer pages from North and South America. Here are the results.
The green beer
Heineken has an international Facebook profile with close to 12 million fans, which makes it the biggest Facebook beer brand in the world. But where are all these people from, we wondered… so we have checked. Most Heineken fans come from.. Brazil. The number of fans from the biggest country in South America is more than 2.3 million, so every fifth Heineken’s fan is Brazilian. The second place in the number of fans was taken by the United States with nearly 1.6 million people. Finally, the third on the podium is Italy, with more than 0.5 million Heineken fans. Among the top 10 countries of Heineken fans we can find also: Argentina, Romania, India, Malaysia, Poland, Chile and Spain.
North vs. South
The first two places in the previous ranking inspired us to look closer at beer fans in North and South America. We have selected top 5 biggest Facebook beer pages, from both continents and compared the numbers.
The biggest profile in our ranking is Brazilian Skol. With more than 10 million fans it is the second Facebook beer page in the world. The second – Bud Light – is about half its size. The dominance of South America is clearly visible. If we compare parallel places from rankings for both continents, all Southern brands are larger than the North American. The hegemony of Brazil in the South ranking is broken by Argentinian brand – Quilmes Cerveza – with more than 3 million fans. It is also the fifth largest analyzed profile. The leaders of the ranking from the other side of the equator are two brands from Anheuser-Busch company: Bud Light and Budweiser. What’s interesting the local Brazilian profile of Budweiser is the fifth largest beer page in South America and is bigger than three other fanpages from North America. Even the sixth South American beer brand – Brahma – has more fans than the third profile from the North, which proves the advantage of the southern continent.
We hope you had fun celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Which beer did you drink yesterday?
